MCF Grant Guidelines
Mission
The mission of the Martinez Community Foundation is to promote, champion and enhance a high quality of life in the entire Martinez community through funding of projects and programs benefiting the present and future residents of Martinez. Our purpose is to foster a rich legacy through the support of education, economic development, community services, cultural and community celebrations and the environment. We are pledged to this endeavor.
Deadline
The Board considers Grant Applications (<< PDF application download) twice a year. Applications must be submitted by March 15 for the spring grant review, and by September 15 for the fall grant review
Funding Categories
Projects shall be considered for funding if they fall within one or more of the following categories:
- Education
- Economic Development
- Community Services
- Cultural and Community Celebrations
- Environment
Funding and Evaluation Criteria
The following criteria will be applied in evaluating applications. Please keep these in mind as you complete your application:
Projects that:
- Benefit Martinez
- Are leveraged (other sources of funding available)
- Provide benefit to the greatest number of people (not exclusive to one group, but all residents within a given area)
- Likelihood of completion
What Is NOT Funded
The Foundation will not provide funding for the following:
- Individuals
- For Profit Organizations
- New or Start-Up Organizations
- Academic Research
- Administrative or Operating Expenses (including paying staff or hiring new staff)
- Fund Raising or Development Campaigns
- Projects which are the normal responsibility of government
- Churches or sectarian religious functions (excepting nondenominational social or community service projects)
- Political lobbying or campaigns
Communication With the Board
Direct communication with the Board of Directors regarding an application will not be of assistance to the applicant and is discouraged.
Non-Discrimination
In establishing criterion for funding and selecting recipients, the Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, national origin, sex, life style, non-disqualifying handicap or other non-merit factors beyond those described in this document.
